Textbook Buyback Schemes – Get More from Your Property

Textbooks are very expensive indeed. If you are a student moving on, you can participate in a textbook buyback program we have on our site. If you are not a student, just look around in your house and you are bound to find a textbook or two you bought just recently either for self-learning or simply for your reading pleasure.

You may be asking yourself why you should go sell and take part in a textbook buyback scheme. Well, we ask you… why not? If you do not sell textbooks you are not using, these books will probably just end up as one of the following:

• a coaster
• a doorstop
• a footstool
• a small coffee table (one book on top of the other…)
• part of a small book collection that simply gathers dust!

Neither of the above really does justice to the main purpose of textbooks right? So why let books that are just lying around gather dust? Sell them. Not only will you make some extra cash but you will also be helping others who cannot afford to buy brand new books (especially college textbooks!).

To take part in our textbook buyback program, all you have to do is type the textbooks’ ISBN and indicate their current general condition. Do note, however, that we only buyback textbooks that have their pages complete, have their front and back covers intact, and that the textbook itself is still firmly bound to its spine. Also, any supplemental material that came with the textbook should also be provided to us.

Another item to consider in our textbook buyback scheme, is that the textbooks have to have minimal highlighting and marginalia. Further, the books should not have any torn pages nor exude any unpleasant odors.

If you find that you have tons of books lying around your home, sort them. etextshop.com currently only buys back new and used current edition textbooks, as well as books marked Free copy, Complimentary Review copy and Instructors editions but we are sure you can sell nearly all of your other books in various ways. For instance, you can auction them off online or even sell them at your (or your kids’ campus).

etextshop.com will quote a price for the textbook you wish us to buyback. If you are happy with this quote, you will be able to print a free shipping label and a packing slip. From there, simply package your textbooks well and bring them to the nearest post office for shipping to us.

Once we receive your textbooks and have checked that it meets the requirements we have stated regarding textbook general conditions, then we will send you a check within 24 hours. Easy money!

So now that you know that the condition of your textbook determines whether you can sell it again or not, it pays to take care of your books. Here are a few tips to preserve your textbooks.

  • Remove the jacket in hard-bound textbooks. The quality of your textbook’s jacket speaks volumes about the condition of your possession. Always remove the jacket when using your books. The hard covering is more than adequate to keep your book from being worn too much.
  • Wrap your textbooks in a plastic cover. If your books don’t have a jacket, or are paperback, you can significantly prolong the life of your books by wrapping them with a custom plastic jacket cover. Just make sure not to tape them on the cover of the book though, as they can damage it upon removing.
  • Protect them from moisture, spills, and smudges. Don’t place them in a damp environment. Also, never bring books by hand because they will be prone to disaster. Always carry them in a bag or backpack.

Reading is one of life’s simple pleasures and nearly every home has textbooks lying around waiting for others to enjoy them or learn from them. So the next time you put a glass on top of a book or put your feet atop a pile of books, think twice. Check out our textbook buyback program and see how you can earn AND make your books available for others to enjoy!
